CHARACTER: serial killer

A serial killer who takes the identity of their victims. Has lived so long in other people's lives that theirs is a distant memory.

PLOT: kidnapping as children, killing as adults

FMC was kidnapped when she was little. Somehow escapes. Now she's all grown up and they never caught the guy. She thinks she sees him at some random store. Does she go to police? Or does she just leave it alone thinking he'd never recognize her even if they were face to face? or does she try to take it in her own hands and go directly after him?

** Could tie in with the other plot I had: killer was kidnapping little kids and tattooing/branding them then sending them home. Now, after all this time, he is on a mission to track them down one by one and finish the game he started.

PLOT: visions of murder

FMC has dream of murder. Thinks nothing of it until she sees the body on the news the next morning. Freaks out, but life goes on. Then, has another dream. Decides to go to police this time even though she knows they are going to laugh at her. They do. Until they find the second body. Then she is suddenly the main suspect. DNA the same or similar somehow? She is in custody when they find the third body. Find out she's seeing through the eyes of a twin sister she didn't even know she had.

PLOT: Stalker

- Beach (ish)

- Works @ a Bar/club/restaurant as a singer? dancer? waitress?

- 1st: one of the patrons that comes in often & has a thing for MC is killed. They find his body on the beach. (dont realize at this point that it has anything to do with her)

- starts getting weird presents? goes to police but they can't/don't do anything. (first meets Detective)

- 2nd: boyfriend gets attacked? Nothing serious so he leaves her. (Detective takes a more keen interest but still doesn't have anything solid to go on)

- 3rd: best friend/roommate gets killed? Detective comes into the picture more permanently, starts to protect her.

Come to find out it's female bartender at work. She's obsessed with MC (love? or friendship?) wants to get everyone close to MC away from her so its just the two of them.

PLOT: "No Escape"

FMC is victim of a serial killer. She is the only to one to have made it out alive, but her face was badly burned/mutilated in the process. She had to have many major reconstructive surgeries to correct her face, but does not look the same as she used to. Using that to her advantage since the killer was never found, she also changes her name and starts completely over somewhere new.

A year later, she has some sort of close encounter with a man. Somehow he gets close enough to her for some sort of scent to trigger her memory of the attack and even though she never saw the face of her attacker, she knows without a doubt its him. She doesn't think he recognized her, but now she's scared to death. What does she do? Does she go to the police even though she doesn't have any proof and risk him finding out who she is? Or does she ignore it; pretend like it never happened and go on with her new life?

Then she has another encounter with the man. Turns out he's the new [  ?  ] in town and she'll have to see him on a daily basis.

WRITING: stabbing dream - written in high school

He could hear the rhythmic breathing of the girl, could see her angelic face laying peacefully against the pillow. How great he would feel when he ripped the life away from her. He could almost feel the coldness of the knife through the black leather of his gloves. He walked slowly toward the bed, silently getting closer until he was standing above her. He looked down at the girl, her blond hair spread around her in a halo and raised his hand. The blade glinted silver in the moonlight just before it was brought down into the girl's stomach again and again. His heart was pounding, blood rushing as he plunged the knife deeper and deeper. He heard the echo of his laughter...

Brandon Trent sat bolt upright in bed, sweat drenching him. He glanced at the clock and saw that it was 4:30 in the morning. Take it easy, Bran, he told himself. It was just a dream.

PLOT BABY: garage sale antique

At a garage sale, MC1 buys an antique [urn?] which they think will look nice on their mantle. When they get home, they realize its full of ashes....

This could go a ton of different ways... the spirit could start haunting them in a harmless way, making it a comedy..... or they could become more sinister, creating a horror story..... or it could be a mystery and it could spawn a ghost who needs to have their murder solved before they "cross over"....

PLOT: reincarnate of murder victim

FMC1 was in an asylum for 10yrs? At age 6/8 she was put in because she kept seeing a ghost who looked like her grown up. At 16/18 she gets out (and even though she's still seeing the ghost she's managed to convince people she's better). She starts a new school and meets bad boy/rebel MC2. FMC1 also keeps having these dreams about a young man & woman who were in love. She finds out that the woman in her dreams was murdered and the killer was never found. Come to find out, FMC1 and MC2 were both the reincarnates of the murdered woman and her "love". (maybe he killed himself after her murder?) Her "ghost" was the reincarnate of herself. She has to find out who originally killed her because the killer somehow knows who she really is and is going to kill her again.

PLOT: raised from dead to solve own murder

[MC] was probably the most normal person you would ever meet, with nothing to significant about them. That is, until they fall victim to a psychotic serial killer. The police have become desperate to solve this case, and decide to do the unthinkable - raise the newest victim from the dead.

Will [MC] be able to solve his/her own murder in time? After all, the dead can't stay animated forever...

PLOT: Lipstick killer

Lipstick

2011 NaNo attempt. I know I'll never write it.

Nothing ever happened in Hempdell, until some lunatic decided to start killing young women and dump their bodies at various local docks, applying a fresh coat of bright red lipstick to them before disappearing until the next time.

Oliver Conway, the detective inspector for Hempdell Valley, has no experience in leading a murder investigation, head office are offering no help and the investigation has no leads to go on.

Even as the investigation falls to pieces, Conway becomes increasingly convinced that a local shop-owner is the killer. There is no evidence for it, no motive that he can find – the man even had alibis! Yet Conway remains sure of his suspicion that he has found the Lipstick Killer. He sets out on a lone mission to prove it, a mission that will prove to have devastating consequences...

In my head, the actual Lipstick Killer is the local shop-owner's younger sister, who is getting revenge on the girls that bullied her in school. She uses lipstick that she steals from his shop, which is what leads Conway to the shop-owner. You can take or leave that twist.

PLOT: sinister funeral home director

On the verge of bankruptcy, a crazy funeral home director goes on a killing spree and starts killing of residents of his sleepy little town to increase the need for his services.

What I like about this idea is that it could go many different ways... he could just randomly kill people he happens to come across or he could only kill people in town who had deep dark secrets themselves.... OR, muah ha ha ha!!!... he could turn around and sell the bodies that are supposed to be cremated to research labs for reanimation. [that just gave me an even better idea...]

[ADAPTED] This is not totally original. I remember seeing a similar idea somewhere on my search for creativity. Though I cannot tell you where or even when I saw it, I can tell you that either way it was up for adoption by someone at some point. However, there are no exact details and is just a broad idea that can be done a million and one different ways.

PLOT: romantic thriller

MC's life changes drastically when she finds out her mother/father/sibling was murdered. She moves back to her hometown to sort through it all when she's attacked, also, after finding (?) in her relative's belongings. Thinks it may have something to do with their murder. She contacts local police, who happens to be MC's high school crush. Now she needs protection until they can find out who the killer is and what they were after.

PLOT: killer party

A group of people all receive formal invitations to a party. (Could be a costume party, a masquerade, etc...) Once all the people are there, they become trapped. Start getting killed off one by one. Don't know who's doing it or why. Could be one of them or it could be an outside person watching everything they do.

PLOT: time travel murder mystery

MC finds the journal of a girl from the 1920's. (She can maybe work at an antique shop... or find it in the attic of the house her family just moved into... or could be staying with a relative in a creepy old mansion, etc). She becomes obsessed with the girl in the journal and does some research. Finds out that the girl & her family were murdered way back when. She falls asleep one night in the midst of her research and when she wakes up she's in a totally different era. She's been somehow transported back in time and desperately tries to save the family before they're murdered.

PLOT BABY: serial killer with a conscience

Killer while on his deathbed tells his son/daughter everything about what he did. Wants MC to tell the families of the victims where the bodies are buried so they can lay them to rest.

PLOT: identity theft gone awry

MC gets attacked one night and almost dies. When she awakes from coma, she's faced with amnesia. She has no family and keeps mostly to herself, so when her best friend keeps visiting her and helps her when she's released she has no one to tell her otherwise. Come to find out, her "best friend" was really the one who attacked her. Her plan was to kill her & take over her identity. But when MC went into a coma instead of dying, the killer has to stay by her side and try to kill her again before her memories come back.

PLOT: witness to a murder

A group of high schoolers in a big city pass the time by playing a sort of game. They sit outside and "people watch", making up background stories about who they see. Whomever's story is the closest to the real thing wins. So a lot of times, they follow the people to see where their real-life takes them. One time, they follow the wrong person and end up witnessing a murder. Now, the bad guy's are trying to kill them before they go to the police.
